3 Easy-To-Use Tools For Creating a Survey
The best way to find out information from someone is to ASK. Sounds easy enough, but when you want to get information from a group of people it can get overwhelming.
What questions should I ask? And how am I going to keep track of everyone’s answer?
Thankfully, technology can help you out here.
When you want to do research on what product your audience needs, or want to collect preferences of customers, or need to know what sort of meal your family wants for the family reunion, a survey is a great way to collect responses.
How To Make a Great Survey
The one thing to keep in mind when creating your survey is “Would I fill this out?”
If someone sent you the survey, would you take the time? Many people create surveys that are way too long.
The point of creating the survey is for people to fill it out. So if someone is intimidated by the time it will take to fill it out, you’re doing it wrong.
Boil it down to just the essential questions. Take some time to plan out what you really need to know.
Survey-Making Tools
Here are 3 of my favorite tools for creating surveys and when to use each.
1. Forms in Google Drive
Google Drive (formerly Google Documents) has a whole suite of great tools to use. You can create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, plus store and share any file.
You’re also able to create a simple form that will save all of its responses into a spreadsheet!
This is super easy and convenient option. And it’s free. There aren’t a lot of styling options, so if you want it to look a certain way you might not be satisfied with it. But to create a simple form and get answers fast, this is my top choice.
2. WuFoo
I’m not sure where this silly name came from, but it’s a great tool.
There’s a very friendly drag-and-drop interface for creating forms and surveys, and lots of integrations for sending the data to other tools. Basic features available in a free account. Many more with one of their pro plans.
3. SurveyMonkey
If you need to make super surveys, this is a great tool. Also has a free option for basic surveys, but super powerful options in the paid plans for business.
Great for market research, in-depth surveys, polls, and more.
Surveys are a great tool for finding out what you should do next
Whether you want to know what problems your target audience is having or are planning a party and want to know who’s coming, forms and surveys are a great way to collect and organize information.
