Awesome Web Guy / Super Smart Marketing Strategy

“Do I Need A Website?”

tools-need-websiteThe fact that I’m web designer might hint that you think I’d naturally say “Why yes, of course, and you should pay me lots of money do make it for you.

But that’s not what I’m going to say.

The real answer is…

NO.

You don’t NEED a website.

A website is a marketing tool. Not all tools are needed for all the time for everyone. For example, I can build a table without power-tools. I don’t NEED a drill, or power-saw. But I may decide that they will help me do the task BETTER.

So what task are you working on?

After looking at what you want to accomplish, you might find that a website would be a valuable tool to have.

For example: Do You Have A Business?

If you’ve been told to have a website because “everyone should have one,” but you have no info that people need to know about you or what you do, then maybe a website isn’t necessary.

But if you’re trying to promote yourself or a product/service, a website can have all the info people need — and can even feature a way to purchase.

If you’ve been promoting yourself entirely on social media, you may want to consider gaining more control over your brand with a website.

Social media platforms are changing daily. You also don’t own the platform… so your account can get shut down without notice, rules can change, or things go wrong.

With a website, you own it. By paying for hosting and building a site, you’ve created a home base that is fully controlled by you. You can show any content you choose, in any way that suits you.

Email marketing is a great way to build your audience, and it’s much easier to build your list when people are already on your website consuming your information.

If you’re planning to build a platform to promote, influence, or profit… I recommend getting SOME form of a website.

But you’ll get best results by getting clear on how this marketing tool will serve you… instead of spending lots of money because you’ve been told you need one.
